WWII weekend...no kids!

Eric and I attended the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's
World War II  air show and re-enactment this last weekend.
We had a blast visiting the re-enactor's tents, villages, and encampments. There were more aircraft than we could see in one day and the finale was a chicken dinner(not worth the money or bother) and a live swing band and dance!

Snow!

Teenage Girl Funk

After weeks and weeks of having to survive the boy funk in the house we sent the boys to grandma's and brought in the girl funk! Laura had a slumber party for her 12th birthday and judging by the giggles and shrieks it was a rousing success.

We provided the baseline sugar and then additional stashes showed up. Eric was a good sport and endured all the girliness but did wish they had at least napped sometime during the night so he could sleep.

Wow! Can you believe she is 12?!

Winter Stuff

Whew! Somehow we have made it through the wedding, Halloween, Thanksgiving(twice), Christmas, a birthday and baptism, and New Years! Yay for January and it's lack of social obligations.

First up Halloween:

As you may or may not notice, I burned a hole in the dress while ironing it...yes I actually thought I should iron a Halloween costume....L loved being Princess Kate and plans are under way to be a vampire bride next year.

The boys were The Emperor of Evil, Batman, and Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. Their choices represent their personalities very well. Everyone made out with lots of candy so the holiday was a success.

Next up was Turkey Day. We were lucky enough to celebrate twice, first at home on Thursday and then again on Friday at my mother-in-law's with the whole family.

I was overly crafty again:

We ate well and were very happy when our pants still buttoned on Saturday! Saturday was also the day we cut our own fresh Christmas tree. It was a treat to have an actual live tree as opposed to one which was cut in Montana in October and shipped to Arizona.

I was crafty again for Christmas:

After we were all decked out for the holidays it was time for L's band concert. Doesn't she look all grown up?

We also enjoyed making gingerbread houses at my mother-in-laws.

We ended the holiday season with New Year's where L sported her new look:

We are now enjoying something called 'winter'. So far, the snow melts within a week or so of falling so winter is enjoyable. We hear Phoenix froze so much people could skate on their swimming pools!
